BitCom Expands with Fiber
St. Augustine, FL, August 5, 2015
BitCom’s HR Manager Christine Duval announced today that JJ Pennington has obtained his CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) Certification. The course and testing was directed by the Fiber Optic Association of America at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
BitCom’s President, James D. Pennington Sr. stated “We’re pleased that James Jr. (JJ) has gotten his fiber certification, and we’re anxious to leverage his new skill in building-out BitCom’s fiber optic network in North Florida to deliver our Voice and High Speed Internet Services. For the past five years we have been delivering our VoIP telephone service over traditional DSL, cable and T-1 circuits, but with the explosion of data consumption, our customers need the speed and security that only fiber can bring to the workforce.” Pennington further explained that this new fiber service allows our Enterprise Customers to directly terminate their voice traffic to our Jacksonville data center without having to touch the Internet. Fiber is also the preferred migration path for every business in the country to move their legacy analog phone service to the new IP telephone service model. “Most people are either in the dark or denial about the FCC’s order for the discontinued use of copper based telephone services that is set for 2020.” That may sound like a long way off but telephone users only have four years to make the conversion to the new IP digital service.” “ We ‘re confident that this conversion will create a multi-million dollar market opportunity for us, our plan is to have our network in place and keep our customers connected, and to grow our company. “
BitCom recently completed fiber installations at the County’s new Health and Humans Service building and the Sheriff’s new secondary 911 Call Center at the County’s Fire Administration Building on Gaines Rd.
